The Aracha is now taken to a refining company. For generations AIYA has maintained contracts with the same local tea farmers who have consistently delivered freshly produced “Aracha” tea. The leaves arrive in many different qualities and require categorization. Our tea tasters do this and evaluate the color, taste and texture.

The final tea is a blend of different varieties and results in a consistent Matcha quality throughout the year. Finally a sophisticated and delicate procedure is used to remove the stems, twigs and unwanted elements so that just the finest and purest flesh of the tea plant remains. This is then cut in similar sized pieces and is called Tencha tea.
